Nice stein from famous maker Simon Peter Gerz. This has raised relief castle decoration. In very nice condition. Marked on bottom with the pitcher in a triangle Fabrikmark Germany and incised 4. Mark is an early mark for Simon Peter Gerz Co. 4 is most likely the form number.

The Simon Peter Gerz stoneware firm began operation in 1857, though its advertising states that the company opened its doors in 1862. The company changed hands several times but still produces the most widely collected steins.
