NEMADJI ART POTTERY MINI VASE
SKU:
P22
This small vase has multi color matte drip design and is stamped on bottom Nemadji Pottery USA. Nemadji pottery was founded in 1923 and comes from the Arrowhead region of Minnesota. It has come to be thought of by many as Indian pottery, although it has no connection with the Ojibway tribe and has never been made by Native Americans. It is reminiscent of the style and coloring used by them. It was originally made from clay dug from the banks of the Nemadji river. They produced floor tiles for wide distribution, and decorative items intended primarily for the tourist trade. The company has had two changes of ownership and a move since 1970, and no longer produces tiles. Nemadji Art Pottery continues to use designs and traditional shapes of ancient Indian pottery. The coloring of Nemadji Art Pottery has always been distintive and remains so to the present day. They accomplish it in a manner that allows no two pieces to be exactly alike.
